She has held prominent leadership roles across the legal and education sectors, including her current service as a Board Trustee at Florida International University, one of the nation’s top 50 public universities.
Beyond her legal practice, Chanel is deeply committed to mentorship, scholarship, and social impact. With a proven record advising Fortune 50 companies, government agencies, and high-growth ventures, she has successfully led clients through regulatory investigations, complex transactions, and federal litigation with precision, discernment, and purpose.
Her professional journey reflects a rare combination of legal mastery, strategic insight, and human-centered leadership. Chanel’s career spans BigLaw, federal service as Enforcement Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Fortune 50 leadership at Johnson & Johnson, and the C-suite of a global fintech platform, where she advised on more than $1 billion in cross-border transactions.
Today, as Founder and Managing Partner of Uriel Law, Chanel is recognized for her calm command, boardroom presence, and ability to align legal strategy with organizational vision—protecting not only assets but also reputation and impact.
Beyond her legal career, Chanel has built an enduring legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service. She currently serves as a Board Trustee at Florida International University, one of the nation’s top 50 public universities—making history as both the first Black woman and youngest person ever appointed. In this role, she has led as Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee and Vice Chair of External Relations, advancing governance, ethics, and institutional growth. She also serves on the Board of Directors for The SEED School of Miami, helping to expand access to quality education for underserved youth.
A firm believer in lifting as she climbs, Chanel established two endowed scholarships—the Trustee Chanel T. Rowe Book Award and the Trustee Chanel T. Rowe Judicial Externship Scholarship—to support aspiring law students and broaden access to experiential learning. Her mentorship of students, attorneys, and emerging leaders reflects her deep commitment to cultivating excellence and equity in law and leadership.
Recognized by Black Enterprise, The American Lawyer, Super Lawyers, Florida Trend Magazine, ATL Plus Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful Women, and the National Bar Association, Chanel is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court and holds an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities for her contributions to leadership and public service.
Known nationally as “The Caregiver Advocate,” Chanel transforms personal resilience into organizational change. Her book, Finding Balance: A Devotional to Help Caregivers Move from Suffering to Strength, and her broader mission champion faith-based high performance, workforce wellness, and caregiver-conscious leadership across corporate and government sectors. She helps leaders design systems that protect and empower those who sustain others—proving that excellence and empathy can, and must, coexist.
Community Engagement & Leadership
Beyond the boardroom, Chanel’s commitment to service runs deep. For over two decades, she has mentored countless students and professionals and served on multiple legal and education boards dedicated to expanding access, opportunity, and leadership development. She established the Trustee Chanel T. Rowe Book Award and Judicial Externship Scholarship to help law students overcome financial barriers and gain hands-on experience in the courts. As a Board Trustee at Florida International University (FIU)—the first Black woman and youngest person appointed to serve—she has advanced governance, transparency, and strategic growth for one of the nation’s top-ranked public universities, while also serving on the Board of Directors for The SEED School of Miami. Today, Chanel’s advocacy extends beyond education to championing the millions of working caregivers whose sacrifices often go unseen. Through her platform and policy work, she is raising awareness of the critical need for legislative and workplace reforms that support caregivers’ mental health, economic stability, and dignity.
